Job summary

Patriot Disposal is seeking a Director of Environmental, Health & Safety to lead loss prevention initiatives across our growing Mid-Atlantic footprint. You will train, coach, and support district GMs and frontline leaders to foster a proactive safety culture and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes incident investigations, OSHA/DOT compliance, program development, and cross-functional collaboration with HR, operations, and maintenance to ensure safe, efficient operations while traveling

Qualifications

• 5+ years as safety professional in transportation, construction, manufacturing, or related industries.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel 75%+ daily/weekly.
• Completion of OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
• Strong written and verbal communication, with ability to develop training materials.

Responsibilities

• Serve as safety SME and consult with divisional leadership on programs and compliance.
• Design, deliver, and reinforce training promoting proactive safety culture.
• Monitor implementation of safety initiatives like Smith Systems, Lytx, and 3rd Eye; drive corrective action.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, FMCSA, DOT across divisions for collections and post-collections.
• Maintain documentation and recordkeeping per regulatory requirements.
• Lead investigations of injuries, incidents, near-misses; coach supervisors on quality.
• Lead emergency preparedness planning and response; act as incident command resource.
• Partner with HR, operations and maintenance on return-to-work and injury recovery.
• Conduct regular safety audits, facility walkthroughs, and ride-alongs.
• Support safety meetings, engagement programs, and performance accountability.
• Assist in OSHA or DOT inspections and corporate audits.
