Job summary

Flywire is seeking a Head of Architecture to serve as the strategic technical partner to the CTO and lead the evolution of Flywire’s enterprise architecture. This leader will define long-term architecture strategy for Flywire’s global payments platform and ensure scalability as the company grows.

The role requires establishing architecture standards, guiding major platform decisions, and driving modernization across the technology stack.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering and architecture leadership experience.
• Proven track record as Enterprise/Chief Architect or Distinguished Engineer in large-scale environments.
• Deep expertise in scalable distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience designing global platforms handling high-volume transactions.
• Strong knowledge of microservices, APIs, and event-driven patterns.
• Experience in fintech/payments or financial services is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain enterprise architecture strategy for Flywire’s payments platform.
• Establish architecture standards across apps, platforms, data, and infra.
• Drive alignment and technical excellence across global engineering teams.
• Build and mentor a small team of domain and platform architects.
