Job summary

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA) seeks a Senior Director of Cooling & Chiller Systems to lead strategy and development of centrifugal chillers, MCP and CDU for data center and energy management in North America.

Hybrid role based in Plano, TX and Ashburn, VA. The candidate will drive engineering excellence, build a regional engineering organization, manage cross-functional teams across Japan and North America, ensure compliance with UL/NRTL, and deliver market-ready cooling

Qualifications

• Education: B.A. or B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 17+ years in HVAC, cooling, thermal systems, or related industrial engineering fields.
• 7+ years in senior leadership roles.
• Experience with North American certification processes (UL/ETL/NRTL).
• Experience with data center cooling systems, modular plants, or large centrifugal chillers.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the cooling systems product strategy for DCEM America, including Centrifugal Chillers, MCP, and CDU solutions.
• Lead development of scalable, high-efficiency cooling architectures for data center applications, including air and liquid cooling.
• Drive the technical roadmap for next-generation cooling systems aligned with market trends and customer requirements.
• Oversee system-level design, integration, and optimization of Chiller systems, MCP platforms, and CDU units.
• Establish design standards, engineering methodologies, and best practices aligned with global MHI frameworks.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams across mechanical, thermal, electrical, and controls domains.
