Job summary

Geisinger Laboratory Medicine is seeking a board-certified MD, PhD (or equivalent) Clinical Microbiologist to join the Department of Laboratory Medicine within the Diagnostic Medicine Institute. The role combines leadership of the infectious disease diagnostic team with academic appointment.

Candidates should have eligibility for Pennsylvania licensure (or ABMM) and CAP/CLIA director qualifications, with strong collaboration across pathology, pharmacy, and quality teams.

Qualifications

• MD/DO with board certification or eligibility in clinical pathology or microbiology.
• Eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania.
• CAP/CLIA Laboratory Director eligibility required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of Clinical Microbiology and collaborate with leaders.
• Manage pre- and post-analytical infectious disease diagnostics, client services.
• Apply phenotypic, proteomic, biomarkers, and molecular methods.
• Lead antimicrobial stewardship and resistance testing methods.
• Support nine hospital laboratories, 80 clinics, and external clients.
• Academic appointment and teaching for students, residents, fellows, and staff.
• Demonstrate leadership, strategic thinking, and project management.
