University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks an Associate Director of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory to lead the Special Microbiology section, including mycology, mycobacteriology, and parasitology. The role requires a strong academic record and board certification or eligibility in Medical Microbiology.

The successful candidate will collaborate with infectious disease services, hospital epidemiology and infection control, while actively teaching students and fellows.

Qualifications

• PhD/MD/MD-PhD or equivalent and board certification or eligibility in Medical Microbiology.
• Strong record of scholarly publications or research collaborations.
• Experience in a clinical or academic microbiology setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory's Special Microbiology section (mycology, mycobacteriology, parasitology).
• Collaborate with pediatric/adult infectious disease services, hospital epidemiology and infection control.
• Teach medical students, residents and fellows and contribute to post‑doctoral fellowship programs.
