Job summary

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for an Assistant Professor in the non-tenure academic clinician track with expertise in clinical microbiology.

MD or PhD or MD/PhD is required; MDs must be board-certified (or eligible) in clinical pathology and eligible for PA/NJ licensure; PhDs must be ABMM-board eligible. Teaching and leadership duties accompany clinical responsibilities.

Qualifications

• MD or PhD or MD/PhD required with board certification eligibility.
• MD candidates must be board-certified or eligible in clinical pathology (AP/CP).
• PhD candidates must be ABMM-board eligible or certified.
• Min. 1 year subspecialty fellowship training in medical microbiology.
• Experience in clinical informatics welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Teach and supervise fellows, residents, medical students, and staff.
• Direct and oversee the clinical microbiology laboratory at a regional hospital.
• Interpret test results, sign-out duties, and ensure quality management.
• Collaborate with infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship teams.
