Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Principal Director for Civil & Commercial Launch Projects to lead the Launch Systems Division and oversee launch programs for civil, commercial, and international customers. You will manage a geographically dispersed team, coordinate budgets and schedules, and collaborate with NASA, Space Force, and other agencies to advance launch initiatives.

Requires 15+ years in space systems, leadership, and ability to obtain a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Advanced degree from an accredited program in engineering, mathematics, physical sciences or related to launch system integration.
• 15+ years progressively responsible experience in technical developments, space systems acquisition, or space launch operations.
• Direct experience with space launch and knowledge of today’s launch systems.
• Proven experience as a people leader.
• Ability to travel domestically up to 30% per year.
• Ability to obtain and maintain US government security clearance (US citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Lead a geographically dispersed team providing launch expertise to civil, commercial, international, and Department of War customers.
• Manage schedules, budgets, and personnel resources for execution of work.
• Maintain relationships with Civil Systems Group and NASA/Space Force divisions for business development and execution.
• Represent the organization on the OCI Review Committee and Corporate IPT for Strategy and Policy.
• Chair the Emerging Launch Community of Interest and engage with the space enterprise at conferences to build relationships.
