Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation seeks a Systems Director for Propulsion Systems to lead propulsion expert teams in support of U.S. Space Force programs.

This on-site role is based at our Los Angeles AFB facility in El Segundo, CA, with responsibility for development, production, and operation of Vulcan booster systems. Candidates should hold a BS in engineering, 12+ years in launch-vehicle propulsion, and be able to travel regularly; US citizenship and ability to obtain Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering or related technical discipline from a recognized institution.
• 12+ years of propulsion/launch-vehicle experience in at least one propulsion area.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing programs including budgets.

Responsibilities

• Lead department on development, production, and operation of Vulcan propulsion systems.
• Day-to-day management of activities and personnel with matrixed support.
• Build and maintain interdisciplinary teams and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Mentor staff and foster staff development within Program Office and ETG.
• Interface between staff, USSF SSC, launch vehicle contractor, and NRO Office of Space Launch.
• Mentor Space Force officers in technical processes and analysis tasks.
• Communicate status and progress through reports and briefings to Aerospace and customers.
• Provide real-time support for tests, training, and launches of Vulcan missions.
