Job summary

Merck is seeking a Senior Director to lead Bioanalytical sciences within the PDMB organization in South San Francisco. The role focuses on shaping fit-for-purpose bioanalytical strategies across biologics, conjugates, peptides, and small molecules, delivering high-quality data packages for candidate selection and regulatory readiness.

You will manage and develop bioanalytical leaders and scientists, partner with discovery, translational, and clinical teams, and drive modernization and automation

Qualifications

• Demonstrated scientific and operational leadership in bioanalysis, including assay strategy, method development, validation or qualification, sample analysis, data interpretation, and reporting.
• Strong understanding of bioanalytical approaches for biologics, conjugates, peptides, small molecules, and novel modalities.
• Proven cross-functional discovery and development program experience.
• Ability to manage program portfolios, prioritize resources, align milestones, identify risks, and ensure high-quality execution.
• Proven people leadership, mentoring, and talent development experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for technical and senior audiences.
• Strong collaboration and influencing skills across functions and sites.
• Commitment to quality, safety, compliance, scientific rigor, and inclusive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific and portfolio leadership for bioanalytical strategy across discovery programs.
• Drive operational excellence with workflow optimization, automation, and data systems.
• Lead and develop DMPK and bioanalytical leaders and scientists.
• Represent PDMB in cross-functional teams and guide program decisions from discovery to clinical translation.
