Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior leader to define and govern application engineering strategy and productionization across front-end, back-end, cloud, and CI/CD. You will guide AI/ML deployment, establish standards, and partner with executives to shape enterprise-grade digital products.

You will lead ~30 FTEs and contractors, mentor engineers and managers, and ensure security, quality, and performance across complex, regulated environments. A track record in large organizations is essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
12+ years of relevant professional experience.
Proven people-leadership experience building and developing high-performing teams.
Experience in regulated industries (pharma, banking, insurance) and navigating large organizations.

Responsibilities

Define the overall strategy and governance model for application engineering and productionization.
Establish frameworks, patterns, and standards for AI and digital products.
Make architectural decisions across front-end, full-stack, cloud platforms, and CI/CD pipelines.
Partner with product, data engineering, data strategy, platform, and operations leaders on architecture and standards.
Oversee design, development, and rollout of reusable, maintainable applications and tools.
Lead front-end and full-stack teams delivering secure, scalable interfaces and enterprise integrations.
Establish and govern CI/CD pipelines, release management, and environment configuration.
Guide AI/ML teams in deploying, versioning, and monitoring models in production.
Define application quality standards and performance metrics (uptime, latency, reliability, UX).
Oversee automated testing, logging, observability, and proactive issue detection.

Job description

Define the overall strategy and governance model for application engineering and productionization
Establish frameworks, patterns, and standards for building, deploying, and maintaining AI and digital products
Make architectural decisions across front-end, full-stack, cloud platforms, and CI/CD pipelines
Partner with product, data engineering, data strategy, platform, and operations leaders on architecture and engineering standards
Oversee the design, development, and rollout of reusable, maintainable applications and tools
Lead front-end and full-stack teams implementing secure, scalable interfaces and enterprise integrations
Establish and govern CI/CD pipelines, release management, and environment configuration
Guide AI/ML engineering teams in deploying, versioning, and monitoring models in production
Define application quality standards and performance metrics for uptime, latency, reliability, and user experience
Oversee automated testing, logging, and observability platforms
Establish proactive issue detection, incident response, and continuous improvement mechanisms
Build and lead an engineering organization of approximately 30 FTEs and hundreds of contractors
Set technical direction, review designs and code, and mentor senior engineers and engineering managers
Foster technical excellence, accountability, continuous learning, reuse, automation, and engineering rigor
Ensure seamless integration with data pipelines, APIs, and orchestration frameworks
Align engineering practices with enterprise governance, security, and compliance requirements
Shape application roadmaps using user and stakeholder feedback, adoption, performance, and business impact
Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs to senior leadership
Promote agile delivery, DevOps, continuous delivery, and modern software development tooling
Apply emerging application engineering, AI integration, and cloud infrastructure practices to drive innovation

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required
12+ years of relevant professional experience
Proven people-leadership experience building and developing high-performing teams
Experience working within regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, banking, or insurance
Ability to navigate and influence within large, complex organizations
Strong stakeholder-management capabilities across diverse functions and seniority levels
Recognized industry thought leader with enterprise-wide strategic impact
Demonstrated program and operations management expertise in large, regulated environments
Proven success managing quality standards, leading efficient development teams, and optimizing complex staffing and resource allocation models
Deep expertise in cross-functional integration and operational effectiveness within a large corporate ecosystem
Ability to travel based on business needs
Candidates must be authorized to be employed in the U.S. by any employer
