KIPP Foundation is seeking a Senior Director, AI Strategy and Innovation to lead a network-wide AI strategy, governance, and pilots across the national KIPP network. The role requires deep AI expertise, cross-functional leadership, and the ability to translate strategy into school- and region-level guidance.

The position emphasizes collaboration with Schools, Development, and regional teams, delivering measurable outcomes while safeguarding student privacy and equity.

Qualifications

• 7-10+ years of professional experience in leadership roles within education or mission-driven organizations.
• 5+ years in K-12 education or education technology strategy (preferred).
• Deep expertise in AI tools, risk assessment, and evidence-based decision making.
• Ability to translate strategy into actionable guidance for regions, schools, and leadership.
• Experience designing measurement frameworks and coordinating across multi-region teams.
• Proven track record in partnerships with vendors, researchers, and funders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead KIPP’s multi-year AI strategy across the national network.
• Serve as AI expert and adviser to regions, the Schools team, and Foundation leadership.
• Own the network’s AI governance and decision structure for tool adoption.
• Lead AI pilot program design, evidence collection, and reporting.
• Coordinate AI work across regions, managing inventory, costs, and privacy considerations.
• Negotiate and manage partnerships with vendors, researchers, and universities.
• Represent KIPP at external forums and drive fundraising support for AI initiatives.
• Ensure alignment of AI efforts with One KIPP and the 2030 Plan.
