Job summary

Submer is seeking a Senior Director to define and scale AI-ready data-center platforms, integrating modular and site-built solutions with a global deployment model. This role drives platform differentiation, cost efficiency, and rapid delivery across regions.

You will partner with engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams to shape roadmaps, validate architectures, and pursue high-density AI workloads while maintaining strong margins and scalable processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, business, or related technical discipline.
• 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in data centers, critical infrastructure, power and cooling systems, modular construction, or related sectors.
• Demonstrated experience bringing complex infrastructure products from market definition through engineering, commercialization, and global deployment.
• Strong knowledge of data-center infrastructure including electrical distribution, backup power, cooling systems, liquid cooling, controls, commissioning, resiliency, and capacity planning.
• Experience with high-density computing, AI infrastructure, HPC, GPU deployments, or liquid-cooled data-center environments.
• Proven commercial acumen including product pricing, cost modeling, margin management, business cases, and portfolio prioritization.
• Experience leading cross-functional organizations across product, engineering, operations, manufacturing, commercialization, solutions architecture, supply chain, and delivery.
• Ability to work effectively with executive customers, strategic partners, OEMs, contractors, consultants, and internal senior leaders.
• Demonstrated success scaling global product portfolios exceeding $100M+ in annual revenue.
• Willingness to travel internationally as required.

Responsibilities

• Define the global product and platform strategy for AI-factory data centers, including modular, prefabricated, and site-built solutions.
• Establish a clear portfolio architecture balancing standardized building blocks with configurability.
• Develop roadmaps for AI-ready power, cooling, and lifecycle offerings.
• Identify priority market segments including hyperscale, cloud, neocloud, GPU-as-a-service, sovereign AI, enterprise AI, telecoms, research/HPC, and edge deployments.
• Translate inputs into quantified product requirements and investment priorities.
• Define platform differentiation around deployment speed, density, energy efficiency, resilience, and lifecycle economics.
• Lead the definition of repeatable reference architectures for AI factories from campus design to integrated infrastructure.
• Partner with engineering to define product requirements, specs, performance thresholds, validation plans, and acceptance criteria.
• Guide tradeoffs between standardized platforms and bespoke designs, protecting manufacturability, margin, and scalability.
• Create a modularity strategy defining what is standardized, configurable, factory-built, site-assembled, or custom-engineered.
• Establish documentation, design rules, configuration tools, and reference designs for consistent execution.
• Own the commercial framework including pricing architecture, configuration logic, margins, cost-to-serve, and value-based positioning.
• Develop business cases for platform investments, variants, partnerships, capacity, and geographic expansion.
• Work with Sales, Finance, Operations to create pricing tools, quote governance, deal-review processes, and profitability guardrails.
