Job summary

Walmart Data Ventures seeks a Senior Director of Software Engineering in Bentonville to lead AI/ML-enhanced programs and cloud-native solutions. You will shape technical strategy, oversee system design across backend, frontend, and mobile, and drive architectural integrity with a focus on scalability and maintainability.

You will mentor senior engineers, collaborate with product and program teams, and champion continuous improvement while aligning delivery with Walmart’s goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with 7 years of software engineering experience.
• Or 9 years in software engineering.
• 4 years of supervisory experience.
• Strong leadership in AI/ML and cloud-native architectures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end execution of engineering programs focused on AI/ML‑enhanced solutions, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
• Oversee architecture and design across backend, frontend, and mobile technologies, promoting standardization and reuse.
• Collaborate with Product and Program Management to align roadmaps, milestones, and delivery strategies.
• Drive software delivery excellence through CI/CD, observability, and cloud‑native practices.
• Mentor senior engineering leaders and foster cross‑team collaboration to cultivate a culture of ownership and continuous growth.
• Apply sound technical judgment to balance trade‑offs and ensure quality deliverables aligned with business goals.
• Champion innovation by identifying improvement opportunities and integrating emerging technologies.
