Step Into a Senior Role Where Your Measurements MatterFrom your first walk onto our production floor, you’ll be the person teams turn to when tolerances get tight and timing is critical. As our Senior Dimensional Metrology Inspector, you’ll safeguard the quality of highly engineered parts for medical devices, aerospace, defense, space, and advanced tech—places where a micron can make all the difference. What a Day Looks LikeYou’ll move between cells to complete first article and first piece checks, support in-process verification, and close out lots with thorough final inspections. You’ll receive components and validate them against drawings and specs, using your expertise to confirm that every feature is in control before parts move forward.Execute first article, in-process, receiving, and final inspections on CNC machined, Swiss, ground, EDM, and other tight-tolerance parts.Operate and interpret measurements from CMMs, vision systems, optical comparators, profilometers, roundness testers, micrometers, calipers, height gages, bore gages, pin and thread gages, gage blocks, and surface plates.Read complex prints and apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5 to validate features and datums.Capture and report results with Good Documentation Practices aligned to ISO 13485, AS9100, FDA, and internal QMS expectations.Drive nonconformance activities, support MRB, and participate in root cause, corrective and preventive actions, and continuous improvement work.Use inspection data for capability studies (CpK, PpK), trend analysis, and objective decision-making.Partner with machinists, grinders, EDM operators, engineers, and production leaders to prevent defects at the source.Coach junior inspectors and help evolve SOPs, inspection plans, and audit readiness.Who Thrives HereDependable, curious, and hands-on inspectors who enjoy being a trusted technical resource.Preferred Qualifications5+ years in precision inspection, CMM, or metrology within CNC machining, grinding, EDM, Swiss, aerospace, defense, medical device, or contract manufacturing.Advanced blueprint literacy and strong GD&T application skills.Experience with regulated systems such as ISO 13485:2016, AS9100, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, or ITAR-governed environments.Sharp documentation habits and a focus on traceability.Clear communicator across operators, engineers, and quality leadership.Mindset that looks beyond pass/fail to solve problems.Demonstrated ability to learn new equipment, methods, and customer-specific requirements.Bonus SkillsCMM programming (Zeiss Calypso preferred).Automated/video inspection (Keyence IM Series, OGP).Background in machining, grinding, EDM, or toolmaking.Experience mentoring other inspectors.FAI, PPAP, control plans, SOP updates, internal audits, NCR/MRB, CAPA, and root cause tools.Exposure to medical device, aerospace, defense, or space component manufacturing.Physical DemandsStand and walk for long periods during the shift.Frequent hand use to operate instruments, tools, gauges, and controls.Regular fine motor work handling small parts and tooling.Intensive visual inspection of parts, prints, machine displays, and precision measurement readouts, including fine detail discrimination.Read and interpret instructions, blueprints, setup sheets, and digital inspection/production records.Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching during setups, cleaning, and routine tasks.Move materials and tooling up to 25 lbs routinely and up to 50 lbs on occasion, with or without assistance.Operate lifting devices and material handling equipment safely.Work near moving machinery, cutting tools, chips, coolants, and lubricants.Tolerate typical manufacturing noise while using required PPE.Maintain reliable attendance and support overtime as needed.ITAR RequirementKMM is an ITAR-registered facility.
