Job summary

Ameren is seeking a Senior Digital Project Cost Analyst to validate initial project costs and manage ongoing cost reforecasting across the project lifecycle. The role ensures projects’ financials are tracked, recorded, and explained accurately within Digital initiatives.

You will build relationships with Digital leadership, Financial Services, Plant Accounting, Digital PMO and Digital Capital Planning, lead initial estimates, participate in planning, and perform monthly forecast updates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science or related field from an accredited University required.
• CPA, CFA, MBA or similar advanced degree in business, finance, or economics preferred.
• Five or more years of relevant professional experience required (e.g., accounting, financial reporting, analysis or modeling, cost modeling, project management, and business planning).
• Experience in IT/technology and financial planning preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with Digital leadership, Financial Services, Plant Accounting, Digital PMO and Digital Capital Planning.
• Lead project work order process by ensuring thorough and accurate business cases with capital vs O&M guidance and cost allocation.
• Participate in long-term business planning integrating Digital strategy and financial goals.
• Support scoping meetings to define initial project scope; develop execution readiness tools.
• Provide SME in estimating, capitalization, scope identification during pre-execution reviews.
• Align costs with project plans with schedulers for investments requiring oversight.
• Monthly spend analysis and reforecasting; coordinate correcting entries as needed.
• Establish sub-processes to improve forecasting accuracy (e.g., weekly hours for $20M+ investments).
• Validate contingency assumptions with internal SMEs throughout the project lifecycle.
• Explain variances between actual and forecasted spend; propose recommendations to leadership.
• Collaborate for continuous improvement of the estimating process (capital cost, O&M, overhead, labor, etc.).
