Job summary

AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER is seeking a Project Cost Analyst Sr to coordinate cost analysis and controls for multiple projects. You will input budgets, forecast updates, variance analysis, and KPI tracking, while collaborating with PMs and external stakeholders to ensure accurate cost depiction across large programs.

As a senior member, you will develop training, drive process improvement, and assist with work orders and vendor coordination to align budgets with schedules.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 4 years' experience as a Project Cost Analyst.
• Associate's degree with 6 years' qualified experience.
• Bachelor's degree with 4 years' qualified experience.
• Degrees must be in related field (Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Technology, or Project Management).
• Experience in utility operations knowledge and cost tracking, forecasting, budgeting, and project management principles.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate project meetings with project team members.
• Support the PM in preparing and updating project documentation and planning.
• Prepare forecasts of project spending and cash flows; monitor budget variances.
• Provide input for SOX activities and annual budgets, capital forecasts, and five-year plans.
• Perform variance reporting and establish time-phased budgets with system dates.
• Create project breakdown structures and assist in project administration.
• Coordinate work orders through creation, in-servicing, and closing; assist in contracting processes.
• Communicate with stakeholders on budget items; provide information and seek assistance as needed.
• Develop KPIs for scope, budgeting, schedule performance, and cost performance.
• Lead administration of project management standards and provide training.
