Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA seeks a Senior Digital Payload Engineer I to lead the development of new digital payload products, including modems, processors, and network routers. You will guide from concept through inflight operations, combining RF, system design, and board-level expertise in a fast-paced setting.

You will drive product development, support test plans, and collaborate with Test/Manufacturing Engineers to deliver flight-worthy solutions on schedule, with a focus on high-speed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field.
• 5+ years in space electronics with high-speed interfaces (SPI, PCIe, Ethernet) and DSP knowledge.
• Experience delivering a digital product from requirements to flight-worthy hardware.
• U.S. citizenship due to program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain requirements specifications for digital payload products.
• Architect the digital product design and prototype selection.
• Support development, aligning design decisions with product capabilities.
• Design, prototype, and PCB layout/fabrication/packaging of digital products.
• Develop test plans and procedures; help create production automation.
• Create product documentation including ICDs and User Manuals.
• Liaise with Test and Manufacturing Engineers to drive New Product Introduction.
• Review proposals to ensure compliance with existing unit capabilities vs needs.
