Job summary

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital is seeking a data analytics professional to provide analysis, reporting, and predictive modeling for the quality department's HEDIS strategy. You will automate reporting and govern clinical data sources to support HEDIS/QARR/Star metrics, identify new data sources, and prepare analytical dashboards for stakeholders.

The role requires advanced knowledge of HEDIS/Medicare Stars, experience with SAS/R/SQL, data visualization tools, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in analytical/quantitative field (healthcare-related preferred).
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 4–6+ years of relevant professional experience required.
• 3+ years in managed care/healthcare analytics required.
• Advanced knowledge of HEDIS and Medicare Stars and electronic quality measures.
• Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access) required.
• Advanced relational databases experience (SAS, R, SQL).
• Programming languages: Python, VBA, R, SAS, C++ or similar.
• Statistical software experience (SAS, R, Stata, Minitab) preferred.
• Data visualization tools: Power BI, Tableau required.
• Strong communication skills across formats required.
• Demonstrated self-starter capable of end-to-end project work.

Responsibilities

• Implement reporting and reconciliation workflows and document processes.
• Medical trend studies related to quality initiatives.
• Identify data improvement opportunities in HEDIS/QARR/Star outputs.
• Plan digital readiness with IT, incl. FHIR readiness.
• Identify new clinical data sources with vendors and providers.
• Data collection, mining, and reporting for internal/external customers.
• Develop advanced statistical analyses of quality metrics.
• Maintain automated quality dashboards and measure profiles.
• Support quality improvement initiatives with self-service reports.
• Analyze business problems affecting member care and STARS ratings.
• Present findings to partners and drive further analysis.
• Collaborate with quality management teams on initiatives.
