Job summary

Alignment Health in California is seeking a data scientist to advance HOS (Health Outcomes Survey) analytics within our Stars program. You will partner with clinical, care management, and engineering teams to create predictive models and data-driven interventions that support CMS guidance and improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities include segmenting members by response likelihood, building end-to-end pipelines for survey cycles, validating CMS case-mix adjustments, and delivering dashboards

Qualifications

• PhD required in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
• 2+ years in predictive modeling with longitudinal or outcomes-based data.
• Knowledge of CMS HOS survey methodology and case-mix adjustment.
• Proficiency in Python/Java/R/Scala/C++ programming.
• Strong SQL and data visualization skills for non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience cloud ecosystems advantageous; ability to present actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate HOS performance drivers into analytical solutions.
• Segment members by response likelihood and health trajectory for targeted outreach.
• Build and tune models predicting HOS composite decline at member level.
• Analyze item-level survey data to identify drivers of performance.
• Create pipelines tracking survey cycles and CMS adjustments.
• Collaborate with engineering to version, test, and deploy models using Git/CI/CD/VM.
• Develop dashboards showing HOS performance versus Star Rating cut points.
