Job summary

RTX is seeking an Electrical Subsystems Digital Principal Engineer in Tucson, AZ to lead digital design efforts for development guidance systems with FPGA architectures. You will architect and integrate digital subsystems within the AEGS team, collaborating with customers, suppliers, and program management.

The role emphasizes mentoring, hands‑on debugging, and multi‑phase hardware development, with travel up to 25%, and will involve design reviews, testing, and documenting subsystem

Qualifications

• Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
• Eight years of experience in Analog, digital, and power electronics design, integration, and production support
• Decomposition of high‑level requirements into actionable design electronics and subsystem architecture
• Subsystem architectural design
• Experience in Digital sub‑systems, systems engineering, requirement development, requirement validation, Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) Design, Digital Test Integration and/or Digital Supplier Management on an effector‑based product
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead or Support Digital Design Efforts for development guidance systems focused around designs containing FPGA's
• Enhance electrical engineering skills by working with digital and/or analog hardware testing and debugging complex circuit card assemblies or electro-mechanical systems.
• Prior hands‑on troubleshooting experience is preferred
• Support component level design and test reviews
• Raytheon has a strong culture of mentoring; it is expected that employees will be both mentors and mentees
• Collaboration with both Functional and Program higher level management.
• Collaboration with Customer and Suppliers
• Assignment may require some travel (~25%)
• Assignments may include being a team member or guiding a team through several phases of hardware systems lifecycle such as designs and analysis; architecting new electronic systems; developing and documenting subsystem requirements and test plans; peer reviews of designs as a subject matter expert; presentations to peers, management, and government customers; and root‑cause failure investigations.
