Job summary

Rivian in Plymouth, MI is seeking a Senior Design Release Engineer for Differentials to lead the development and release of differential systems for next‑generation EVs. You will own SOR establishment, oversee supplier reviews, and drive DVP&R integration across powertrain programs.

You will collaborate with NVH, efficiency, and manufacturing teams to optimize BEV differential performance, and ensure manufacturability and robust release processes throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on drivetrain/axle/transmission experience with differential design/release.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (CATIA V5/V6, NX) and PLM systems.
• Deep knowledge of Open, Limited‑Slip, and Disconnect differential architectures.
• Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, and Boundary Diagrams.
• Strong PM, communication, and vendor-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Author and manage SOR for Drive Unit Differential technologies and oversee ECRs and BOMs in PLM.
• Lead supplier technical reviews and adherence to SOR across cross-functional teams.
• Use Pugh Matrix to assess requirements, risks, and technical recommendations.
• Manage product lifecycle from concept to DV, PV, launch and continuous improvement.
