Job summary

Zūm Services, Inc. is seeking a maintenance technician to keep our fleet of school buses in safe, optimal condition. You will diagnose malfunctions, perform repairs, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards while coordinating inspections for major work.

The role requires 2–4 years of fleet mechanic experience, diesel and gasoline systems knowledge, and a valid CDL. ASE certification is a plus; tool ownership is expected, with a focus on electrical, AC, and diagnostic skills.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years medium/heavy truck fleet mechanic repair experience.
• Diagnostic, electrical, and AC skills required.
• Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment.
• Fleet experience and familiarity with diesel and gasoline systems.
• Possess the recommended minimum hand tools for a Diesel Technician.
• Valid state CDL license required.
• ASE certification desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs (steering, electrical, cooling, brakes, drive trains, suspensions, engines, etc.) following applicable guidelines.
• Test-drive vehicles to verify repair.
• Coordinate inspections and approvals for major repairs before release.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area complying with regulations.
• Identify and report additional maintenance needs for higher-qualified technicians.
• Record time, parts, and repairs accurately.
• Perform road calls and on-the-road repairs as assigned.
• Inform Lead Technician of unsafe conditions or improper vehicle use.
