Job summary

Zūm is seeking a maintenance technician to keep our school bus fleet in safe, optimal condition. You will diagnose malfunctions, perform repairs, and ensure adherence to federal and state standards while coordinating inspections and road calls as needed.

The role requires 2–4 years of medium/heavy truck experience, CDL, and hands-on diesel knowledge. Competitive hourly pay, with benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum two to four years medium/heavy truck fleet mechanic repair experience.
• Diagnostic, Electrical, and AC skills are a must.
• Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment is required.
• Have previous fleet experience and are familiar with diesel and gasoline systems.
• Possess the recommended minimum hand tools for a Diesel Technician.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs and related duties in accordance with federal, state/provincial, and local guidelines.
• Test-drive vehicles to ensure repairs have resolved the problem.
• Arrange inspections and obtain approval of major repairs before release.
• Maintain a safe, clean, productive work area compliant with guidelines.
• Identify and report additional maintenance found necessary during repairs.
• Record time spent, parts used and repairs performed.
• Perform road calls and on-the-road repairs as assigned.
• Advise Lead Technician of unsafe maintenance conditions or vehicle abuse.
