Job summary

Hub Group is hiring a Fleet Technician 3 to diagnose, repair, and service a range of class 8 tractor-trailer equipment. The role covers diesel engines, powertrains, electrical, brakes, HVAC, and aftertreatment systems, with preventive maintenance and tire service. You will mentor others, document work, and ensure DOT standards are met.

Qualifications

• 4 years practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational / Technical or certification preferred.
• Demonstrated customer service and relationship building skills.
• Expert understanding of fleet maintenance policies, DOT standards and industry practices.
• Specialized training and experience in the diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses required (FRTL or INTL), ASE Certification preferred, and 608/609 certifications preferred.
• Proficiency in the use of all tools of trade (including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools) required.
• Clean MVR required and able to operate service truck preferred.
• Strong work ethic.
• Excellent communication skills. Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and written, and can read and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Comply with safety practices and SOPs.
• Repair and diagnose diesel engines, powertrain, electrical, HVAC, steering, and electronics with minimal help.
• Perform all levels of preventive maintenance on trucks and trailing equipment.
• Recondition equipment for trade-ins and prep new equipment for delivery.
• Annual vehicle inspector and brake inspector certifications per DOT.
• Demonstrate MIG/TIG welding in 다양한 situations as needed.
• Utilize diagnostic software for Detroit DD15 engines and DEF systems.
• Use Windows-based systems and diagnostic tools.
• Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair orders.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas and road-test vehicles when needed.
• Complete routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication.
• Inspect and verify parts against factory specs and adjust as required.
• Mentor junior technicians and provide repair instructions.
