Job summary

Woodfin Heating, Inc. is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician in Ashland, VA to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. You will identify root causes of complex mechanical, electrical, emissions, and drivability issues and perform major engine repairs.

The role requires 5+ years of diesel experience, a high school diploma or GED, and hands-on tool ownership. Excellent diagnostic skills and the ability to work independently are essential for success.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional diesel mechanic experience; 7+ years preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required; trade school education preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, and emissions systems.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience performing major diesel engine repairs; tool ownership required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, emissions, and drivability concerns.
• Perform major engine repairs and service transmissions, steering, suspension, brakes, and HVAC.
• Use diagnostic software and service information to identify root causes of complex issues.
• Diagnose CAN bus, EGR, DPF, and SCR system concerns.
• Document diagnostic findings, repairs completed, parts used, and recommended repairs.
• Complete work safely and according to manufacturer specifications.
