Job summary

Salem Leasing is seeking a Lead Diesel Mechanic to repair trucks, trailers and other vehicles in Orlando, with a strong emphasis on diagnostics and safety. The role supports our 55+ years of truck maintenance excellence and team-driven shop operations.

You will lead shop activities, review work orders with supervisors, and ensure high-quality maintenance while complying with DOT and OSHA guidelines. CDL preferred, and tools provided by the employer where needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• CDL license preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years recent medium/heavy diesel maintenance experience preferred.
• Must have own hand tools.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good driving record & proven work history.
• Must be able to work in extreme heat & cold temperatures.
• DIAGNOSTIC EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Responsibilities

• Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions
• Repair, reline, replace & adjust brakes
• Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors
• Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined & other potentially troublesome areas
• Plan work procedures using charts, technical manuals & experience
• Communicate with driver to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems
• Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services
• Repair manual & automatic transmissions
• Replace & adjust headlights
• Comply with all safety, DOT, & OSHA guidelines
• Adhere to company rules & regulations
• Ensure cleanliness of shop & surrounding areas
