Job summary

Salem Leasing is seeking a Lead Diesel Mechanic to repair trucks, trailers and other vehicles, bringing a strong diagnostic background to a shop foreman role. You will help plan procedures, review work orders, and supervise technicians to maintain our well‑regarded fleet standard.

The position requires experience with medium/heavy diesel maintenance, own tools, a clean driving record, and the ability to work in extreme heat and cold.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• CDL license preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years recent medium/heavy diesel maintenance experience preferred.
• Must have own hand tools.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good driving record & proven work history.
• Must be able to work in extreme heat & cold temperatures.
• DIAGNOSTIC EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Responsibilities

• Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
• Repair, reline, replace & adjust brakes.
• Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors.
• Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined & other potentially troublesome areas.
• Plan work procedures using charts, technical manuals & experience.
• Communicate with driver to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems.
• Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services.
• Repair manual & automatic transmissions.
• Replace & adjust headlights.
• Comply with all safety, DOT, & OSHA guidelines.
• Adhere to company rules & regulations.
• Ensure cleanliness of shop & surrounding areas.
