Salem Leasing is hiring Diesel Mechanics to repair trucks, trailers, and other vehicles. With more than 55 years of experience and 40 full-service shop locations in the Southeast, we have a wide variety of career options to fit your life and earning needs.

Join our team in Gastonia, NC to diagnose and repair braking systems, transmissions, and routine maintenance, following safety standards and DOT guidelines in a busy shop environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year recent medium/heavy diesel maintenance experience.
• Must have own hand tools.
• Basic computer skills required.
• CDL license preferred.
• Good driving record with proven work history.
• Able to work in extreme heat & cold conditions.

Responsibilities

• Examine vehicles to determine damage or malfunctions.
• Repair, reline, replace & adjust brakes.
• Review work orders and discuss with supervisors.
• Follow checklists to inspect parts and areas.
• Plan work procedures using charts and manuals.
• Communicate with driver to obtain problem descriptions.
• Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services.
• Repair manual & automatic transmissions.
• Replace & adjust headlights.
• Comply with safety, DOT & OSHA guidelines.
• Adhere to company rules & regulations.
• Ensure shop cleanliness.

• Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined & other potentially troublesome areas
• Plan work procedures using charts, technical manuals & experience
• Communicate with driver to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems
• Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services
• Repair manual & automatic transmissions
• Replace & adjust headlights
• Comply with all safety, DOT & OSHA guidelines
• Adhere to company rules & regulations
• Ensure cleanliness of shop & surrounding areas
