Job summary

Salem Leasing is seeking Diesel Mechanics to repair trucks, trailers and other vehicles. With over 55 years of experience and 40 full‑service shop locations in the Southeast, we offer a strong reputation and plenty of growth opportunities for qualified technicians.

Responsibilities include diagnosing vehicle issues, repairing brakes and transmissions, performing routine maintenance, following safety guidelines, and coordinating with drivers and supervisors.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year recent medium/heavy diesel maintenance experience.
• Must have own hand tools.
• Basic computer skills.
• CDL license preferred.
• Good driving record & proven work history.
• Diagnostic experience is a plus.
• Must be able to work in extreme heat & cold temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions.
• Repair, reline, replace & adjust brakes.
• Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors.
• Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined & other potentially troublesome areas.
• Plan work procedures using charts, technical manuals & experience.
• Communicate with driver to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems.
• Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services.
• Repair manual & automatic transmissions.
• Replace & adjust headlights.
• Comply with all safety, DOT & OSHA guidelines.
• Adhere to company rules & regulations.
• Ensure cleanliness of shop & surrounding areas.
