Job summary

Transdev in Chula Vista, CA is seeking an experienced Mechanic A to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines across our fleet. You will ensure safety, efficiency, and longevity of assets through expert diagnostics and hands-on maintenance.

The role requires 5+ years of heavy-duty experience, ASE certifications, and a CDL with Passenger/Airbrake endorsements; DOT drug testing applies. This is a hands-on, senior mechanics position within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy-duty transit equipment.
• Five ASE certifications preferred (two among T6, T7, H6, H7).
• Desirable 609 and 608 air conditioning certificates.
• Must hold Commercial Driver's License with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements.
• Must be able to pass DOT drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine necessary repairs on engines.
• Perform routine maintenance to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with team to ensure efficient and accurate repairs.
• Complete preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and annual inspections.
• Lead diagnostics and repairs for complex engine issues, including overhauls.
• Provide guidance to junior technicians and support skill development.
