Job summary

Sysco Northeast Rdc is seeking a Fleet Technician to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a wide range of fleet vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities include diagnosing electrical and refrigeration systems, following DOT and OSHA regulations, and mentoring junior technicians.

Holders of a High school diploma or GED with CDL preferred are encouraged to apply. The role demands hands-on expertise, safety consciousness, and the ability to work in a dynamic fleet environment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current and valid driver's license (CDL Preferred, Not Required).
• Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training.
• 2-year school and 4 years of experience OR 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair.
• Annual Inspector Certification Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.
• Brake Inspector Certification Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.
• ASE certifications & Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks.
• EPA section 608 (Core & Type II) and 609 HVAC & Refrigeration Certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment to maximize safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Perform FAI/CVI inspections on all fleet vehicles in accordance with federal, state, and local rules.
• Perform quality preventive maintenance inspections on tractors, trailers, refrigeration units, lift-gates, and other equipment.
• Perform repairs to maximize safety and reliability across fleet equipment.
• Diagnose and repair refrigeration units (Reefer).
• Address Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write ups promptly and efficiently.
• Mentor and train Fleet Technician I/II to prepare for higher roles.
• May supervise in the absence of Fleet Manager or Supervisors.
• Proficient in electrical meter testing and OEM/diagnostic software.
