Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Design for Manufacturing Engineer to drive VA/VE initiatives and ensure manufacturability and safety of equipment designs. The role acts as the technical bridge between design intent and factory execution, supporting a transition to repeatable, rate-driven manufacturing systems.

You will collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to reduce complexity, improve throughput, and lower total cost while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years in equipment design, manufacturing engineering, or DFM-focused roles.
• Senior-level product design experience delivering complex equipment in a production environment.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems and align multiple stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Creo, Windchill PLM, and SAP.
• Understanding of fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly processes.
• Experience releasing production-ready designs in an OEM environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead DFM reviews for new and existing equipment designs to ensure manufacturing readiness.
• Identify and eliminate manufacturability risks related to tolerances and assembly.
• Drive design simplification, part reduction, and standardization across programs.
• Ensure designs support line-rate production with minimal engineering intervention.
• Embed Design for Safety principles from concept through release.
