Vets Hired is seeking a Senior DevSecOps Engineer to design, implement, secure, and operate cloud-native infrastructure and deployment platforms that support modern applications and ML workloads.

The role combines DevOps automation with security engineering to build scalable, secure, and reliable environments, emphasizing Zero Trust, automation, and secure-by-design principles across the software development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in DevOps/DevSecOps, cloud, or platform engineering.
• Hands-on AWS and Terraform experience.
• Strong Kubernetes and Amazon EKS experience.
• Experience with ECS, Docker, and Helm.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of Git, Argo CD, and GitOps.
• Hands-on SSO, IAM, RBAC, and workload identity.
• Strong understanding of Zero Trust and cloud security principles.
• Strong AWS networking knowledge.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Senior DevSecOps Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and operating cloud-native infrastructure and deployment platforms. The role combines DevOps automation with security engineering to build scalable, secure, and reliable environments supporting modern applications and machine learning workloads.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.


• Build, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, ECS, Docker, and Helm.


• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows using Git and Argo CD.


• Implement secure authentication and authorization using SSO, IAM, RBAC, and workload identities.


• Apply Zero Trust, least-privilege, defense-in-depth, and secure-by-design principles.


• Integrate security controls into cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and container environments.


• Implement vulnerability and container security scanning.


• Design and troubleshoot AWS networking, including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, load balancers, DNS, and TLS.


• Support deployment and operation of microservice-based and cloud-native applications.


• Troubleshoot cloud, Kubernetes, networking, CI/CD, and application deployment issues.


• Automate infrastructure, security, and operational processes.


• Establish DevSecOps, cloud infrastructure, security, and operational best practices.


• Support monitoring, logging, observability, and infrastructure reliability.


• Apply security standards and best practices throughout the software development and deployment lifecycle.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, Cloud, or Platform Engineering.


• Strong hands-on experience with AWS and Terraform.


• Strong experience with Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.


• Experience with ECS, Docker, and Helm.


• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.


• Strong knowledge of Git, Argo CD, and GitOps.


• Hands-on experience with SSO, IAM, Kubernetes RBAC, and access control.


• Strong understanding of Zero Trust and cloud security principles.


• Strong AWS networking knowledge.


• Familiarity with microservice and cloud-native architectures.


• Strong automation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS GovCloud or regulated environments.


• Knowledge of NIST, CIS, FedRAMP, FISMA, or DoD security requirements.


• Experience with Kubernetes security, NetworkPolicies, secrets management, and workload identity.


• Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability technologies.


• AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, or security certifications.
