Job summary

Tenna is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to own and grow a platform and developer-experience function for a distributed construction-assets platform. You will lead end-to-end production systems, drive infrastructure as code, and improve observability across AWS services.

Remote, nationwide; strong focus on reliability, cost-efficiency, and scalable design. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and shape the platform's future as the company scales.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles, including senior IC ownership of production systems.
• Substantial hands-on experience running production infrastructure on AWS.
• Hands-on production experience operating container-orchestrated workloads.
• Experience operating managed relational databases in production, diagnosing performance problems.
• Solid grasp of VPCs, subnets, routing, and DNS.
• Proficiency writing infrastructure as code and automation.
• Experience with AWS CDK in JavaScript/TypeScript, GitHub Actions, distributed messaging, caching, or search.
• Ability to ramp quickly on unfamiliar systems with sound judgment.
• Curiosity about how systems work and ownership mindset.
• Communicates risks and decisions clearly to non-experts.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve the platform function with end-to-end ownership and codified infrastructure.
• Own the uptime of the production platform; lead incident response and root-cause analyses.
• Own metrics, monitoring, alerting, and tracing across the stack.
• Create actionable dashboards and extend coverage as services ship.
• Manage, improve, and extend AWS environment, focused on EKS, RDS/Aurora, and networking.
• Operate and upgrade EKS clusters; scale workloads and troubleshoot issues.
• Keep databases and messaging layers healthy and performant (PostgreSQL on RDS/Aurora).
• Diagnose degraded performance across data, messaging, and network paths.
• Define and manage infrastructure as code with AWS CDK; extend stacks over time.
• Own pipelines in GitHub Actions; remove bottlenecks and build trusted tooling.
• Manage data movement from field equipment through cellular tunnels and AWS networking.
• Monitor and analyze AWS spend; present savings opportunities to leadership.
• Document systems and share knowledge to avoid single points of failure.
