Job summary

Motion Recruitment in Chicago is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to help expand and optimize its Platform Product team. This hybrid, full-time role is based in downtown Chicago and requires leadership across multi-team cloud services.

Responsibilities include automating cloud workflows, implementing IaC with Terraform, managing Kubernetes clusters, and building services with Python or Java. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in software engineering and strong CI/CD practices; AWS/GCP/Azure

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering, architecture, administration, and observability across multiple teams.
• 3+ years as a full-stack engineer building/operating production services with web frontends (React or similar).
• 3+ years coding in Python or Java in a multi-team codebase.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD principles to identify and resolve issues.
• Strong Kubernetes and containers knowledge; building services with FastAPI or similar.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Engineering to automate cloud processes across the SDLC.
• Advise on secure defaults, clean coding practices, pipeline test coverage, and observability.
• Learn new technologies quickly and share knowledge with others.
