Job summary

RWS seeks a Senior DevOps contractor to serve as the technical anchor for Project Marty, driving delivery velocity and defining engineering patterns. You will lead the AWS pipeline build and establish platform conventions to ensure scalable, repeatable deployment processes.

Based in the United States, you will own Terraform and Ansible designs for declarative VM state and build a GitOps flow on GitHub Actions with OIDC-based authentication, delivering robust lifecycle management for the platform.

Qualifications

• Experience as a senior DevOps practitioner delivering end-to-end infrastructure pipelines.
• Proven ability to define and enforce engineering patterns and conventions at scale.
• Hands-on AWS cloud engineering with strong CI/CD and GitOps experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of the phase 1 AWS pipeline end to end, including repo scaffolding and provisioning workflow.
• Own the Terraform and Ansible design to ensure declarative and reproducible VM state.

• Project Marty is a self-service VM provisioning platform for RWS that replaces manual IT requests with a GitOps flow.
• It is built on AWS first, with plans to extend to GCP and Azure, and integrates with Backstage.
• The Terraform and Ansible pairing forms the architectural heart of the platform.

Job Purpose:

• You are the Senior DevOps contractor on Marty, serving as the technical anchor for delivery velocity and engineering patterns.
• You will lead the build of the AWS pipeline and set architectural conventions for the platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead delivery of the phase 1 AWS pipeline end to end, including repo scaffolding and provisioning workflow.
• Own the Terraform and Ansible design to ensure declarative and reproducible VM state.
• Build the GitOps flow on GitHub Actions with OIDC-based authentication and implement full lifecycle management.

Skills & Experience:

• Deep hands-on infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and configuration management with Ansible.
• Proven track record building end-to-end provisioning and lifecycle pipelines.
• Hands-on cloud engineering on AWS, with experience in CI/CD and GitOps workflows.
