Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to shape the architecture and technical direction of platform services in a cloud software environment. You will drive automation, reliability, and scalable deployment capabilities across engineering teams, with a focus on FedRAMP High and IL5 initiatives.

Responsibilities include defining technical strategy, owning deployment workflows, and leading cross-team architectural reviews to ensure security, compliance, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, SRE, DevOps, or related fields.
• Strong OO programming background before transitioning into DevOps roles (Python/Go/Java/Ruby or similar).
• Deep expertise with Kubernetes, ArgoCD, deployment orchestration, and cloud-native platforms.
• Experience designing CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code solutions, and platform automation initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of AWS, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and production operations.
• Proven experience building deployment platforms and self-service developer experiences.
• Experience with FedRAMP High, DoD IL5, GovCloud or other regulated environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical strategy for Platform Services supporting FedRAMP High and IL5 environments.
• Own architectural decisions across centralized platform APIs, reusable CI/CD components, deployment workflows, and automated service onboarding.
• Lead modernization of manual release and promotion processes via automated, policy-driven delivery pipelines.
• Build and establish golden path deployment frameworks for rapid, reliable app deployment onto the platform.
• Develop standards for deployment validation, audit compliance, change control, and rollback procedures.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to align platform capabilities and drive technical decisions.
• Lead architecture reviews focused on security, observability, reliability, and operational ownership.
