Job summary

Cloud BC Labs is seeking a Sr DevOps Engineer to join our on-site team in McLean, VA. You will design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Java applications, automate deployments, and manage cloud infrastructure with AWS.

You will work closely with developers to improve release workflows and implement security best practices. The role requires 6+ years in DevOps or related fields, strong Java/JVM knowledge, and experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and IaC tools.

Qualifications

• 6 years of experience in DevOps, software development, or related roles.
• Familiarity with Java and JVM ecosystem (Spring Boot, Maven/Gradle).
• Experience with at least one CI/CD tool (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes concepts.
• Exposure to AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation).
• Scripting skills (Bash, Python, or Groovy).
• Understanding of Git and branching strategies.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Java-based applications.
• Automate deployment processes and infrastructure provisioning.
• Support containerization efforts using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Monitor application and system health, assist in troubleshooting issues.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve build and release workflows.
• Help manage cloud infrastructure (AWS).
• Apply security best practices in day-to-day workflows.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response (with guidance).
• Document processes, configurations, and runbooks.
• Contribute to automation initiatives that reduce manual effort.
