Job summary

The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium is seeking a Senior Development Operations Engineer (Full Time) to join the IT Department. You will help build and maintain software and infrastructure, improving workflows and automations for internal users and guests while supporting the Zoo's mission.

You will lead design, deployment, security, monitoring, and ongoing support of the Zoo’s tech stack, collaborating with IT colleagues, Zoo affiliates, and vendors to resolve complex issues and drive reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ years of age.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related fields preferred OR equivalent work experience.
• Advanced understanding of databases, web servers, and object oriented programming languages.
• Advanced knowledge with Python, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, MS SQL Server, and/or PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of Agile software development practices.
• Must have a valid drivers’ license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
• The Toledo Zoo is a drug-free workplace, including marijuana.

Responsibilities

• Design, development, implementation, automation, security, integration, monitoring, and ongoing support of the Zoo’s software and technology infrastructure.
• Collaborate with IT team members, Zoo affiliates and external vendors to resolve complex technical issues.
• Evaluate and research emerging DevOps tooling and cloud technologies for projects.
