Job summary

The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium is seeking a Senior Development Operations Engineer to join the IT department. This full-time role focuses on building and maintaining software and infrastructure, automating workflows, and designing solutions for internal and guest-facing processes to support the Zoo’s mission.

You will lead DevOps efforts, implement automation, monitor systems, and collaborate with vendors and internal teams to improve performance and efficiency across the technology stack.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ years of age.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related fields preferred OR equivalent work experience.
• Advanced understanding of databases, web servers, and object oriented programming languages.
• Prior experience with Odoo, n8n, DigitalOcean, AWS, NoSQL, Redis, non-profit processes, Blackbaud platforms, and/or Metabase a plus.
• Knowledge of Agile software development practices, and desires to better their knowledge in their field.
• Must have a valid drivers’ license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
• The Toledo Zoo is a drug-free workplace, including marijuana.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, automation, security, integration, monitoring, and ongoing support of the Zoo’s software and technology infrastructure.
• Collaborate with IT team members, internal departments, Zoo affiliates and external vendors to resolve complex technical issues.
• Evaluate and research emerging DevOps tooling, cloud technologies and platform for all projects.
• Assist with system architecture and technology decisions and the overall technology environment in support of the Zoo’s mission.
