Job summary

Zoo in Los Angeles is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure to own the reliability, automation, and evolution of core systems. You’ll work across the stack with a focus on backend and infrastructure, strengthening foundations that power the platform.

The role involves building tooling, enabling automation, and stepping in across the stack to address issues, including frontend when necessary. Strong Rust and distributed systems experience are required.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Strong experience in systems, platform, or infrastructure engineering.
• Proficiency in Rust and systems-level programming.
• Experience with distributed systems and API design.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code and containerized deployments.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain core systems and services that support platform reliability and scalability.
• Build automation and tooling to reduce operational overhead and improve developer workflows.
• Develop integrations with external platforms (billing, CRM, authentication, analytics).
• Improve observability, monitoring, and alerting across services and layers.
• Architect and maintain infrastructure components (distributed services, pipelines, deployment automation).
• Contribute to security-focused systems work (permissions, access flows, auditability).
• Troubleshoot across services and frontend when needed, owning from diagnosis to resolution.
