Job summary

OpenGov in Boston, MA is seeking a Sr. DevOps Engineer to own cloud systems, CI/CD pipelines, and security architecture for our multi-tenant SaaS platform serving thousands of public sector customers.

This role blends deep technical execution with cross-functional influence, driving AI-forward infrastructure that directly shapes how government services are delivered. You will mentor engineers and shape operational excellence across the team.

Qualifications

8+ years of software engineering experience with cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and platform engineering.
3+ years running Kubernetes at scale in production on public clouds (Azure preferred).
Proven track record designing and managing AWS/Azure/GCP infrastructure for SaaS applications.
Hands-on expertise with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform/CloudFormation/Pulumi/Crossplane).
Strong CI/CD tooling experience (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI).
Deep knowledge of cloud security practices, including encryption, RBAC/IAM, and network security.
Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or Ruby.
Experience with AI-driven developer tooling or workflow automation.
Familiarity with ArgoCD or other GitOps deployment frameworks.
Experience operating in regulated environments (SOC2/StateRamp).

Responsibilities

Architect and own OpenGov’s multi-tenant Azure and AWS infrastructure, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery readiness at scale.
Lead infrastructure-as-code strategy using IaC tooling across environments.
Design, build, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines that enable rapid, reliable feature delivery across engineering teams.
Drive cloud cost optimization and performance engineering across AWS/Azure services.
Own the security posture of cloud infrastructure and partner with compliance teams on SOC2 and StateRamp adherence.
Establish and manage observability practices using Grafana, Prometheus, and Azure Monitoring; lead incident response and post-mortem processes.
Serve as a cross-functional technical advisor translating business priorities into scalable infrastructure decisions.
Mentor and develop junior engineers, elevating technical standards and building a culture of operational excellence.
