Job summary

Smart Synergies is seeking a highly experienced Senior DevSecOps Engineer to support federal workloads in AWS GovCloud. This hybrid role emphasizes DevSecOps, cloud automation, security, and regulatory compliance to strengthen mission‑critical government applications.

Role requires 7+ years in DevSecOps or related fields, hands‑on AWS GovCloud expertise, and strong CI/CD and IaC skills (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible). Candidates must be US citizens and hold security certifications.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required.
• Active security certification and AWS security certification (or equivalent).
• 7+ years of hands‑on DevSecOps, cloud engineering, or infrastructure automation experience.
• In‑depth knowledge of AWS GovCloud services, secure configuration, and federal compliance frameworks.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms (GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, or comparable).
• Strong IaC experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and refine CI/CD pipelines to automate delivery and enforce security controls.
• Architect, deploy, and sustain secure AWS GovCloud environments for DoD and Civilian agency systems.
• Use Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible to provision infrastructure as code.
• Maintain alignment with federal cybersecurity standards (NIST 800-171/800-53, RMF, FedRAMP, Zero Trust) and automate security scanning.
• Deploy and operate Docker containers and Kubernetes workloads (EKS, ECS, Fargate) in GovCloud.
• Configure monitoring and incident response with AWS CloudWatch, Security Hub, GuardDuty, Splunk/ELK.
• Create automation scripts in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to enforce policies and streamline deployments.
• Collaborate with software engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and cloud engineers to promote DevSecOps culture.
