Job summary

Fluence Energy, LLC is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our global team in Houston. You will blend Platform Engineering, SRE, DevOps and development work across multiple products and environments. The role requires owning automation, deployment pipelines, and tooling in hybrid infra (on‑prem and AWS).

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and 7+ years in DevOps or software engineering.
• Seven years with Ansible, CI/CD (GitHub, Jenkins), containers and orchestration.
• Experience with observability, cloud, IaC, and centralized logging tools.

Responsibilities

• Deliver customer service and support development teams to ship software quickly.
• Blend Platform Engineering, SRE, DevOps and development responsibilities.
• Own priorities and drive automation of build, deployment, and tooling.
• Design, deploy and manage development infra on‑prem and AWS.
• Automate product deployment and improve observability with metrics and alerts.
• Evaluate tools and processes to improve the software lifecycle.
• Coach developers on best practices, docs, and training; collaborate globally.

TITLE: Senior DevOps Engineer

LOCATION: Houston, TX

DUTIES:

Deliver exceptional customer service - we are a force multiplier, enabling our development teams to deliver complex software products quickly and efficiently. Go beyond traditional DevOps - this role blends Platform Engineering, SRE, DevOps, and Development responsibilities. Take ownership - we seek self-starters who drive priorities without waiting for ticket assignments. Support multiple software products across global environments. Identify and drive opportunities to automate build, deployment, management, and tooling. Design, deploy, and manage development infrastructure services both on-premises and in AWS. Deliver product deployment automation solutions critical to our software. Enhance system observability with metrics, monitoring, and alerting. Review and recommend tools and processes to improve the software development lifecycle. Guide developers with best practices, troubleshooting support, documentation, and training sessions. Collaborate effectively in a global, distributed team via video and chat, with occasional travel. Accept the hybrid work model - in-office presence required at least 2 days per week. Participate in a weekly on-call rotation.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering or a related field followed by 7 years of experience in DevOps, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Experience must include 7 years with each of the following:

• Building software automation with Ansible
• CI/CD pipeline development using GitHub and Jenkins

Containerization and orchestration using Docker, Docker Compose, and Kubernetes

• System monitoring and alerting with Prometheus, Grafana, and Zabbix
• Cloud infrastructure management and scaling on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Using Terraform and CloudFormation
• Monitoring, observability, and centralized Logging using Datadog, Elasticsearch, and Splunk
