Job summary

Fluence is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer in Houston to enable fast, reliable software delivery. You will blend Platform Engineering, SRE, and DevOps with development tasks, supporting multiple products in global environments.

You will automate builds, deployments, and tooling, manage on‑prem and AWS infrastructure, and elevate observability and logging. Expect a hybrid schedule with in‑office presence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering or related field with 7+ years in DevOps or software engineering.
• Demonstrated experience building software automation with Ansible.
• Proficient in CI/CD pipeline development using GitHub and Jenkins.
• Strong containerization with Docker, Docker Compose, and Kubernetes.
• Experience at scale with AWS and IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation).
• Solid monitoring/observability using Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix and centralized logging with Datadog/Elasticsearch/Splunk.

Responsibilities

DUTIES

Deliver exceptional customer service – we are a force multiplier, enabling our development teams to deliver complex software products quickly and efficiently. Go beyond traditional DevOps – this role blends Platform Engineering, SRE, DevOps, and Development responsibilities. Take ownership – we seek self-starters who drive priorities without waiting for ticket assignments. Support multiple software products across global environments. Identify and drive opportunities to automate build, deployment, management, and tooling. Design, deploy, and manage development infrastructure services both on-premises and in AWS. Deliver product deployment automation solutions critical to our software. Enhance system observability with metrics, monitoring, and alerting. Review and recommend tools and processes to improve the software development lifecycle. Guide developers with best practices, troubleshooting support, documentation, and training sessions. Collaborate effectively in a global, distributed team via video and chat, with occasional travel. Accept the hybrid work model – in-office presence required at least 2 days per week. Participate in a weekly on-call rotation.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering or a related field followed by 7 years of experience in DevOps, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• Building software automation with Ansible
• CI/CD pipeline development using GitHub and Jenkins
• Containerization and orchestration using Docker, Docker Compose, and Kubernetes
• System monitoring and alerting with Prometheus, Grafana, and Zabbix
• Cloud infrastructure management and scaling on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Using Terraform and CloudFormation
• Monitoring, observability, and centralized Logging using Datadog, Elasticsearch, and Splunk
