Job summary

Arizona Opera seeks an energetic Associate Director of Development to lead its institutional funder portfolio and support the organization’s programmatic initiatives. The role reports to the Director of Development and is based in Phoenix, Arizona, with responsibilities spanning foundations, government and corporate sponsors, plus select individual donors.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in development, fundraising, or related sales.
• Knowledge of fundraising principles and the funding process for institutional funders.
• Experience building relationships with community, business, and government leaders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to motivate through written word.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead institutional giving program and manage a portfolio of foundations, corporate, and government funders.
• Develop strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and renewal to grow institutional revenue.
• Lead the preparation and submission of grant proposals, applications, reports, budgets, and related materials.
• Identify new corporate and foundation grant opportunities and initiate contact on Arizona Opera's behalf.
• Establish and maintain relationships with program officers, leaders, and funders to build engagement.
• Maintain the institutional funding calendar and ensure timely proposals and reports.
