Job summary

Justworks is seeking a Senior Developer Experience Engineer in New York to own CI/CD infrastructure and empower 300+ engineers with robust tooling. You’ll shape the platform culture, build a developer portal, and drive adoption of core platform capabilities.

You will lead efforts to reduce friction, automate security, and Improve deployment frequency while collaborating with SRE and platform teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of experience building developer tooling, CI/CD systems, or infrastructure automation.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions strongly preferred).
• Experience with developer portals or internal platform tooling (Backstage strongly preferred).
• Experience with Kubernetes deployments and container orchestration.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, TypeScript, or Ruby; frontend development skills.
• Excellent written communication.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve CI/CD infrastructure to improve build times and deployment frequency.
• Build and maintain a developer portal (Backstage) and service catalog.
• Create golden path templates for Go, Rails, and Vue.js services.
• Build and maintain internal developer tooling to accelerate workflows.
• Instrument and measure developer experience metrics with the SRE team.
• Implement security and compliance automation that protects without slowing teams.
