Job summary

Bixal is hiring a Senior Service Designer / UX Researcher to join our Developer Experience team on a DoE/FSA platform engineering contract. You will map the developer journey, run sprint-cadence usability testing, and translate research into backlog items.

You will work with engineers and a PM to design developer-facing tools, ensure accessibility, and deliver production-ready experiences for government workloads. U.S. citizenship and security clearance are required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience in service design, UX research, or HCD.
Experience designing for developers and platform/tool users.
Ability to translate research into backlog items and design artifacts.
Strong collaboration with engineers and stakeholders in federal contexts.
U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

Research and Discovery: map end-to-end developer journey and identify high-friction points.
Design service blueprints, user flows, and high-fidelity prototypes for developer-facing products.
Collaborate with engineers to align research with backlog and sprint cadence.
Ensure accessibility (Section 508, WCAG 2.1) in all interfaces and docs.
Contribute to a developer experience metrics dashboard and governance.
