Job description

Join our American Amicable Group as a Senior Developer (Assembler)! This is a remote role.

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced developer to work on our mainframe systems, supporting the sale of our life insurance products. Your focus will include coding, testing, debugging, and supporting our legacy systems like Life Comm, which manages the entire life insurance cycle.

Main Duties:

• Design, program, configure, and integrate solutions in an enterprise environment.
• Support and maintain existing legacy systems, ensuring security and confidentiality of data.
• Prepare development work for automated testing, perform tests, and ensure smooth deployment.
• Measure system performance and robustness.
• Implement or utilize continuous integration and deployment pipelines.

Other Tasks:

• Participate in team discussions on design and best practices.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and users to validate needs.
• Promote code validation and best practices within the team.
• Provide technical support post-deployment and assist with documentation strategies.
• Handle complex tasks and set standards in your technical area.

Qualifications:

• At least ten years of related experience.
• Experience with Life Comm or similar life insurance packages.
• Proficiency in Assembler programming, VSAM, Batch JCL (VSE).
• Knowledge of unit testing and TDD.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, independently, and as part of a team.
