Job summary

Qualifications

• Proven programming in XML/JSON/Java/JavaScript/ PHP/ Oracle and DB connectivity.
• Experience with enterprise-wide web/mobile environments and client/server architectures.
• Knowledge of SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and NoSQL (Couchbase, MongoDB).
• Experience with VMware, Linux, Apache and related tech.
• UI development with Node.js, Angular, or React.js.
• Strong oral and written communication with ability to lead projects.

This position serves as a senior developer for software development and web/mobile application initiatives at Old Dominion University. The role involves designing and implementing applications that support the university's digital needs, while assisting with research and evaluation of future technology directions. The developer will provide technical leadership and work across enterprise-wide web and mobile environments.

Key qualifications

• Extensive programming ability in languages such as XML, JSON, Java, JavaScript, PHP, Oracle, and open database connectivity
• Extensive knowledge of enterprise-wide web/mobile environments and client/server architectures
• Working knowledge of SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and familiarity with NoSQL databases like Couchbase or MongoDB
• Considerable experience with VMware, Linux, Apache, and associated hardware/software
• Demonstrated ability developing rich user interfaces using frameworks such as Node.js, Angular, and React.js
• Ability to provide technical and project leadership with strong oral and written communication skills
